UK Lifestyle Consumer Research & Leads

Home/About

We are a survey company that happens to sell leads

That order matters. The research operation came first; the lead generation business grew out of it because clients kept asking who had answered yes.

Who we are

An in-house floor, not a broker's desk

UK Lifestyle runs consumer lifestyle surveys from its own UK contact centre. We employ our own agents, write our own questionnaires and hold our own recordings. There is no third party between the conversation and the record you buy, which is unusual in this market and is the whole of our argument for existing.

Most of what is sold as “lifestyle data” in the UK has been traded several times. Each hop loses a little context and a little provenance, until the file arrives with a consent claim nobody can substantiate. Our clients tend to be firms that got caught out by exactly that once and decided not to repeat it.

Quality does not report to Operations. If it did, it would eventually stop rejecting leads.

What we do

We find out what people want and we tell the companies that sell it. Concretely, that means three things: we run telephone surveys to a script; we license selections from the resulting file; and we pass qualified leads and live transfers to sales teams who can act on them the same day.

We work for brands directly and for the agencies and brokers who buy on their behalf. The brief is usually the same either way — a defined audience, a set of qualifying criteria, and a daily volume that a sales floor can genuinely work.

Why clients stay

Because the numbers we quote at the start are the numbers we deliver, and because when a lead is queried we pull the recording rather than argue. That is a low bar. It is also, judging by what clients tell us about their previous suppliers, not a common one.

The commercial arrangement is deliberately unromantic: you pay for what you receive, the delivery report reconciles to the invoice, and either side can end the arrangement on notice without a penalty clause. We would rather keep a client because the leads work.

Who we are not for

If you want the cheapest cost per lead on the market, we will lose that pitch and we know it. Recording every call, checking every record and refusing to re-sell an exclusive lead all cost money. If your model needs volume at any quality, there are suppliers who will accommodate you — and you will meet some of them again at the ICO.

How we are organised

  • Research — writes and tests questionnaires
  • Operations — runs the calling floor and the dialler
  • Quality — checks records and audits recordings; reports separately from operations
  • Data — screening, selections, delivery and integrations
  • Client services — your named contact, campaign reviews and queries

How we work

Six habits that survived contact with clients

01

Quote the realistic number

We forecast daily volume from the last four weeks of the same filters, not from the best week we ever had. It wins fewer pitches and loses fewer clients.

02

Write down the criteria

Every campaign has criteria agreed in writing before the first call. Almost every dispute in this industry is really a disagreement about what was promised.

03

Keep the recording

Twelve months, retrievable by record reference. It settles queries in minutes and it is the only real answer to “where did you get my number?”

04

Pilot before volume

A few hundred calls first, always. Scripts that read beautifully on paper fall apart in the first hour on the phone, and it is cheaper to find out then.

05

Say no to bad fits

If your criteria cannot produce the volume you need, or the product needs authorisation you do not hold, we will tell you at the enquiry stage rather than take the order.

06

Report the failures too

The weekly review shows leads rejected at quality check and why. Clients find that number more useful than the one we delivered.

Come and listen to the floor

Prospective clients are welcome to sit in on a briefing and a calling session. It tells you more about a supplier than any deck.
